Indian Super League clubs have jointly written a letter to the All India Football Federation, rejecting a proposal to include Churchill Brothers FC Goa in the top division this season. The clubs said such a move would be «contrary to merit-based participation and undermine competitive integrity.»
“Given that this matter has previously been discussed and agreed upon in discussions with the AIFF, it is unclear on what basis we can reopen the matter,” the clubs said in a letter to the Federation, which Sportstar has seen.
«The structure of the 2025-2026 ISL competition is closed and final. It forms the basis of existing sporting, operational, financial and contractual obligations. No extension or change is acceptable at this stage.»
The development comes in response to a letter from the AIFF to the 12 ISL clubs seeking their permission to include Churchill Brothers in the league. The Federation’s announcement followed statements by FC Goa and Sporting Club Delhi urging Churchill’s inclusion.
«We further state that the two said clubs have themselves stated that they will abide by the decision of the majority of clubs and the AIFF. Baca juga tentang qaz4. In the circumstances and given the surrounding context, it appears that these communications may have been made under situational pressure,» the joint letter from the clubs said.
“In any event, as the overwhelming majority of participating clubs do not agree to any expansion, and as the Federation retains regulatory authority over the composition of the competition, this matter should be treated as closed.”
