East Bengal FC will look to consolidate its points tally when it hosts Sporting Club Delhi on Saturday in its second outing of the 2025-26 Indian Super League season at the Salt Lake Stadium.
East Bengal started their campaign in style, recording a convincing 3-0 win over NorthEast United FC. The attacking unit impressed with pace and creativity as Youssef Ezzejjari scored twice while Miguel Ferreira added to the tally.
Ahead of his team’s second match, head coach Oscar Bruzon emphasized the importance of consistency in a short competition format.
«We expect a tough match. In a competition with a shorter duration, mistakes are costly, so our focus is on taking one match at a time and continuing to improve. If we can maintain our level of performance, I think we are in a good position to achieve the desired result,» Bruzon said after the final practice session.
The Kolkata giants, who have further strengthened their squad with the signing of Danish forward Anton Sojberg as their sixth foreign recruit, will once again rely on a strong mix of Indian and foreign players to secure another positive result.

«We have been preparing for a long time and are ready to give our all on the field this season. The fans were great in the last match and we hope they come again in large numbers. We will give our 100 percent to make them proud,» said East Bengal midfield mainstay Jeakson Singh, highlighting the team’s readiness and the importance of fan support.
Sporting Club Delhi, meanwhile, will look to bounce back after a 0-2 defeat to Bengaluru FC in the opening match. Head coach Tomasz Tchorz believes that his team has shown promise despite the loss and now needs to tighten its focus on key moments.
«The players have shown that we can compete at this level even if the result was not to our liking. Now we need to improve our focus at crucial moments and be more clinical with our chances. We travel to Kolkata with faith, ambition and the clear goal of fighting for three points,» Tchorz said.
«East Bengal is one of the strongest and best organized teams in the league, with experienced Indian players, quality foreigners and a coach who has achieved success in India and Asia. For us, this is not only a great challenge but also a huge opportunity,» the Polish manager added.
With the two opponents motivated for different reasons – East Bengal looking for momentum and SC Delhi looking for redemption – an intense match is in store at Indian football’s iconic address.
