ISL 2025-26: FC Goa players and coaching staff agree to salary cuts

FC Goa on Thursday announced that its first-team players have taken the ‘selfless’ decision to reduce their pay amid the financial constraints of the upcoming Indian Super League (ISL), which starts on February 14.

While foreign players such as Iker Guarrotxena, David Timor and Borja Herrera opted to leave, the rest of the squad and coaching staff have agreed to a salary cut for the remainder of the season.

«In a moment of real uncertainty for Indian football, our club had honest and difficult conversations about the challenges we face. What followed was something that made us incredibly proud. Our first-team players and coaching staff stepped up, stood together and chose to support the club by agreeing to reduce their pay during this period. This was not an easy decision. It was a selfless decision,» said a statement from the Gaurs on social media.

«We are deeply humbled by this gesture and extremely grateful for the unity, character and dedication the group has shown. These moments remind us that this club is more than results on the pitch, it’s about people, faith and standing together when it matters most. Thank you for fighting for the badge. Thank you for believing in the journey. We will move forward together,» it added.
