Inter Kashi will not soon forget this day. This was the day the men from the holy city registered their first ever victory in the Indian Super League.
That happened by beating Kerala Blasters 2-1 at the Jawaharlal Nehru Stadium, in front of what must be one of the smallest crowds in recent times at this venue, where the stands are usually a sea of yellow. For the men in yellow on the field, it was the third defeat in as many games that left them without a point.
Inter Kashi, on the other hand, is undefeated after three games. The country certainly does not find promotion to India’s most important football competition too difficult so far.

Nauris Petkevicius and Alfred Planas had made it 2-0 with just six minutes of normal time remaining. But Victor Bertomeu’s goal, from a fine free kick from just outside Y. Ebindas’ penalty area, offered hope for the hosts, who even came up with several threatening moves in the second half.
Petkevicius had broken the deadlock in the first half by driving an excellent through ball from Planas firmly into the penalty area rfv5.
Kashi’s second goal was almost against the style of play. Planas added the finishing touch to Petkevicius’ smart pass, which was set up quite well by K. Prasanth.
Blasters had plenty of chances to equalize before half-time but were once again let down by poor finishing. That story would continue in the second half.
The results:
Kerala Blasters 1 (Victor Bertomeu 84) lost to Inter Kashi 2 (Nauris Petkevicius 34, Alfred Planas 78).
