Jamshedpur FC will look to build on its winning start to the 2025-26 Indian Super League (ISL) when it hosts Punjab FC at the JRD Tata Sports Complex in Jamshedpur on Saturday.
JFC recorded a 1-0 win against Mohammedan Sporting thanks to an early goal from Madih Talal, while PFC will play its first match of the season after the opener against Odisha FC was postponed.
JFC head coach Owen Coyle said ahead of the match: «We have a lot of respect for Punjab because they have quality and real depth all over the pitch, especially in the wide areas. We know they can be very dangerous if you switch off even for a moment.»
«That’s why our focus has to be on ourselves: on taking care of the ball, maintaining our concentration throughout the match and being more clinical with the chances we create. If we perform to the maximum, move the ball well and play with the intensity we expect from ourselves at home, then it’s a match we think we can win,» he added.

It is our first match of the season and we hope we can start the season well. We love playing in front of fans, in front of full stadiums, which, I think, will be a motivation for us to play.»
Ahead of the first match, PFC has named Nikhil Prabhu, Dani Ramirez, Khaimingthang Lhungdim and Muhammad Suhail F. as club captains. Along with Dani, Samir Zeljkovic, Nsungusi Jnr Effiong, Bede Amarachi Osuji and Pablo Renan Dos Santos are the team’s foreign signings.
