Mohun Bagan Super Giant made a spectacular late comeback to beat Punjab FC 3-2 with an extra time winner in a thrilling match of the Indian Super League (ISL) 2025-26 at the Salt Lake Stadium in Calcutta on Sunday.
Providing a stark contrast to Mohun Bagan’s slow start, Punjab struck first in the 12th minute when Daniel Ramirez calmly finished from close range after a well-placed cross from Mohammad Uvais gave him the chance. Mohun Bagan responded strongly and found the equalizer in the 29th minute through Jamie Maclaren, who benefited from a smart assist from Robson Robinho.
The match picked up pace in the second half as Punjab regained the lead around the hour mark through Nigerian forward Nsungusi Effiong, who smashed home after an accurate delivery from his compatriot Bede Osuji.

As the match entered the final quarter of action, Mohun Bagan looked to be in trouble before head coach Sergio Lobera made crucial changes to the attack.
Substitute Sahal Abdul Samad brought the hosts back into the match with a brilliant long-range strike that restored parity in the 73rd minute. The equalizer shifted the momentum in Mohun Bagan’s favour, and the hosts grabbed the win in stoppage time when another substitute, Jason Cummings, found the decisive goal in the 90+1 minute.
The win moved Mohun Bagan to second place with 17 points from eight matches, just behind Mumbai City FC (18 points), and kept them firmly in the title race.
