The All India Football Federation (AIFF) disciplinary committee has withdrawn the red card given to Inter Kashi goalkeeper Lluis Tarres during the 2025-26 Indian Super League (ISL) opener against FC Goa on February 15.
During the match, Tarres hesitated to release the ball in the 80th minute and opponent Muhammed Nemil tried to steal the ball from him, but ended up in the penalty area.
Referee Crystal John immediately pointed to the spot, from which Dejan Drazic scored and stole a point for FC Goa in a 1-1 draw at the Jawaharlal Nehru Stadium in Fatorda.
The referee also regarded the goalkeeper’s challenge as a denial of a clear scoring opportunity and sent the goalkeeper off the field – a decision that the disciplinary committee reversed on Friday.

“The committee finds that, in the opinion of the Wrongful Dismissal Review Panel, the player was wrongly sent off for denying a clear goal-scoring opportunity (DOGSO),” the committee, chaired by Justice (Retd.) Vineet Saran, said in its judgment.
Furthermore, the committee ruled that the red card shown to the player would be withdrawn and downgraded to a yellow card (note), making the Spaniard available for Inter Kashi’s next match against Odisha FC on February 24.
Kashi, who moved to the I-League via corporate in 2023-24, earned promotion to the ISL within two seasons. It signed Tarres as one of its foreign recruits ahead of this season, with the player being the only foreign goalkeeper in ISL 2025-2026.
The 24-year-old Tarres has spent most of his career in the lower echelons of Spanish football and won the 2021 Copa Federación de España with Cordoba CF.
