In a development that could give a boost to the possibility of the Indian Super League (ISL) taking place this season, a majority of ISL clubs have decided to file a petition in the Supreme Court to find a quick resolution to the impasse.
The ISL – India’s top men’s league – has become uncertain – after being successful between 2014 and 2025 – this season after the recent bidding process, managed by KPMG and planned by the All India Football Federation (AIFF), failed to find a commercial partner for the league.

AIFF’s contract with Football Sports Development Limited (FSDL) – which managed the league until 2025 – expires in December this year, and the absence of a new investor has put a major question mark on the league’s ecosystem.
According to sources, a meeting on Wednesday between CEOs of ISL clubs and AIFF president Kalyan Chaubey led to the decision on the petition.
Several player representatives from different clubs also expressed their support to help the AIFF find a way out. Both the players and the clubs want to file a separate petition in this regard with the Supreme Court.
