ISL model, owned by AIFF, proposed to clubs; The competition is likely to start on February 5


The All India Football Federation (AIFF) met with all Indian Super League clubs to find a solution for hosting the competition, and prepared a long-term plan as requested by the clubs before the meeting.

Under the new plan, the ISL will be ‘owned and operated’ by the AIFF, as per the new constitution, but the 50 percent share of revenue will be shared equally among the clubs.

The Federation retains 10 percent of the revenue share, while 30 percent is reserved for a potential commercial partner.

The first season of the ISL, as per the new plan, will run on a budget of Rs. 70 Cr. and each club will pay a ‘standard participation fee’ of Rs. 1 Cr. annually at the AIFF.

“The meeting went well and representatives of all fourteen clubs were present. We presented our models to the clubs and we hope to start the competition on February 5,” said Goa Football Association president Caetano Fernandes, who was one of the members of the committee set up to find a competition model. “The clubs have requested a day or two for their deliberations, and we are optimistic that the competition will start very soon.”
