Sarina Wiegman broke in a festive dance when Chloe Kelly hit the winning penalty in Sunday’s shootout to help England to achieve a second consecutive ladies -euros title, a wild ride that the coach who called the most chaotic tournament ever.
The 55-year-old, who is under contract with England until 2027, had already written history by becoming the first football manager to be the coach in five consecutive large tournament final.
Euro 2025 turned out to be a roller coaster of emotions for Wiegman, where England is fighting back to win all three knockout matches in extra time or a shootout, including the final in which the World Champions Spain defeated 3-1 on penalties after the game ended in a 1-1 draw.
«This has been the most chaotic tournament, from the first game there was chaos … it appears that we love football chaos!» A jubilant Wiegman said.
Asked how she is planning to celebrate, she said: «Maybe with a little more dancing. I may have a drink, but I won’t drink as much as the players.»
The Wiegman players were enthusiastic about her motivating speeches during the tournament and she must have delivered a memorable on Sunday.

«The main report was,» said Wiegman, who completed a Hattrick of Euro Triumphs on Sunday, after she also led her native country to the title of 2017.
“We have now so far in this tournament. I think we all made something together again. So these are the moments when you dream, well some couldn’t even dream because it was not possible when they were small children.
«But go outside and enjoy it and play your very best game.»
There was controversy in the weeks prior to the tournament after the winning goalkeeper Mary Earps of Euro 2022 announced her international retirement. She recently lost her runway to Hannah Hampton.
But Hampton was brilliant in Switzerland, including in the two shootouts and was appointed player of the game on Sunday after saving two punishments from Spanish players and making various other important saves.
«Every player has his only story and journey, and hers has been incredible,» said Wiegman. “Starting the tournament and losing the first game, there was so much driving on every game; we had five finals. She had to perform and I think she was great.
«It’s a bit like a fairy tale to put those two penalties (during the shootout) in the final.»
England lost his opening match to France, but preached about trust and did not give up since that evening, and the tournament was a remarkable show of resilience. It only led a total of four minutes through their three knockout matches.
«It was incredible,» said Wiegman. “In the camp, the training sessions, everything about the team was very calm.
«Only the games were chaotic and very close and sleek, and we were behind in many games. We lost the first game, but after that it was all very calm.»
Michelle Agyemang, the 19-year-old who scored late goals in the quarterfinals and semi-final, won the young player of the Tournament Award.
