Jeremy Monga breaks the record of Jude Bellingham, becomes the youngest goal scorer ever in the history of the championship

Leicester City Teen Jeremy Monga set a new record as the youngest goal scorer ever in the history of the championship, the second division of English football, during his 2-1 loss in Preston North End on Saturday.

16 years and 37 days, Monga came from the bank to score the goal in the 67th minute, so that the early opener of Alfie Devine for Preston was canceled. In the process, Monga broke the previous record that belonged to Jude Bellingham who had scored 63 days before Birmingham City in 2019 at the age of 16 against Stoke City.

The strike by Milutin Osmajic, however, five minutes from full -time resulted in a defeat in front of the side managed by Marti Cifuentes, who took the job after Ruud van Nistelrooy separated with the club after the Premier League degradation.

Monga had become Leicester’s youngest starter ever in the defeat of the League Cup Penalty Shootout on Wednesday by Huddersfield.

He defeated a record that was held for 59 years by former Foxes and English goalkeeper Peter Shilton.

Leicester, the Premier League champion 2015-16, was relegated from the top division after the end of the 18th last season. During that campaign, Monga, then 151 years old, became the Second-Younst Premier League player when he made his senior debut in a 3-0 loss for Newcastle United.

Leicester is currently 11th in the championship with three points after a victory and a defeat in the first two games. The Foxes will compete against Charlton Athletic in their next match on August 23.
