Jones reveals Salah has apologized to Liverpool teammates for explosive comments after the draw at Leeds


Egyptian striker Mohamed Salah has apologized to his Liverpool teammates following his recent explosive interview, midfielder Curtis Jones has said.

Jones said Air sports in an interview published on Friday, Salah had addressed the team to explain his comments, stressing that the situation did not affect the dressing room and that the players remain united.

«Mo is his own man and he can say his own things. He apologized to us and said, ‘If I influenced anyone or made you feel a certain way, I apologize’. That’s the man he is,» Jones said.

In his inflammatory comments after the Premier League draw against Leeds United on December 6, the 33-year-old Egyptian lashed out at the club and coach Arne Slot. He told journalists he felt he had been made a scapegoat for their poor start to the season and suggested he might not have stayed at Anfield for much longer.

Liverpool, champions last season, are seventh in the Premier League standings with 26 points, 10 behind leaders Arsenal.

Earlier on Friday, Slot said there were no ongoing problems with Salah, who was left out of the squad for the 1-0 Champions League win against Inter Milan on December 9.

The forward came off the bench to provide an assist in Liverpool’s 2-0 win over Brighton & Hove Albion last weekend before heading to the Africa Cup of Nations.
