Judge in the Non -Natuality case of Maradona resigns from the scandal


The Argentinian judge, involved in the scandal that led to a mistrial in the case of seven health workers accused of negligence in the death of Diego Maradona, resigned on Tuesday. A large jury announced that it would continue the process to consider its removal.

Julieta Makintach, who withdrew from the case because of her appearance as one of the main characters in a documentary, resigned as a judge in a provincial court of Buenos Aires.

«I present my resignation with serenity, without abandoning the right to exercise my defense in the right arenas,» Makintach wrote in a letter sent to the district authorities.

The judge is on leave and will have to wait until the authorities of the Buenos Aires accept her resignation.

Maradona, who led Argentina to the World Cup title in 1986, died on November 25, 2020, while in the house in the hospital on the outskirts of Buenos Aires, days after an operation for a hematoma that formed between his skull and brain. He was 60.

Seven health care professionals were brought to court for alleged omission to provide sufficient care.
