Kerala Blasters appoint Ashley Westwood as head coach until the end of the season

Kerala Blasters FC from the Indian Super League announced on Friday that Ashley Westwood has been appointed head coach until the end of the current season.

Westwood had previously coached Bengaluru FC and led the team to two I-League titles and a Federation Cup victory. He has also worked for ATK and Punjab FC and most recently managed the Hong Kong national football team.

Westwood will take charge of the KBFC first team with immediate effect as preparations for the upcoming matches are underway.

«Kerala Blasters is a club with enormous support and expectations. I am fully aware of the responsibility that this role entails. I look forward to working with the squad and staff in the coming days and understanding the group. My focus is on getting settled and working with the players,» said Westwood.

Abhik Chatterjee, CEO of Kerala Blasters FC welcomed Westwood to the club. «He brings valuable experience and exposure to Indian football. We look forward to his work with the squad throughout the remainder of the season.»

Kerala Blasters had earlier parted ways with David Catala after an extremely poor start to the 2025-26 Indian Super League (ISL) season.

The team is second from bottom in the table, one goal and one point above the relegation-threatened Mohammedan Sporting Club.
