Kylian Mbappe again skips Real Madrid training, set to Miss Pachuca Game in Club World Cup

Real Madrid striker Kylian Mbappe has skipped the collective training session on Saturday and will miss the 15-way European Champions Group H match against Pachuca at the Club World Cup while he recovers from disease, the club said.

Mbappe, who was admitted earlier this week in a hospital in Miami Area with acute gastroenteritis, was staying in the team hotel and would not travel to Charlotte, North Carolina for Sunday’s game, said a real spokesperson.

Mbappe was excluded from Real’s opening match against Al-Hilal, which ended in a 1-1 draw and left RB Salzburg at the top of the table with three points after it defeated the Mexican side Pachuca with 2-1.

Mbappe had been isolated from his teammates since Tuesday before being taken to the hospital on Wednesday. He was fired on Thursday.

A club source said earlier this week that Mbappe was not expected to participate in a group game at the Club World Cup.

Coach Xabi Alonso, however, showed that Mbappe could play in the last group match.

«He is better. It is two days since he returned from the hospital. He recovers, and day after day we are increasingly optimistic about him for the next game,» he told a press conference.
