La Liga 2025-26: Elche pulls in Seville to stay unbeaten

Replacement Peque Fernández scored with another five minutes to give Sevilla a 2-2 home stretch against Elche in La Liga on Friday.

Newly promoted Elche, however, continued to make an impression by expanding the unbeaten start of the season to four games.

Isaac Romero brought Sevilla Vooruit with an opportunistic attack from 18 meters.

André da Silva immediately made it early in the second half after a nice cutback by Martim Neto, and Rafa Mir brought the visitors to the lead after 70 minutes with a smart free kick.

Sevilla had not lost at home with Elche in the competition since the 1967-68 season, and it cost a late intervention by Fernández to keep that record.

The striker had only been on the field for six minutes when he ran to a cute rear wheel from Alexis Sanchez to hit the ball in the roof of the net.

Elche is sixth in La Liga, one of the six unbeaten teams, while Sevilla is 11th with four points from four games.
