La Liga 2025-26: Gavi available for Sevilla match after injury layoff, says Flick

FC Barcelona coach Hansi Flick said midfielder Gavi will be able to play against Sevilla FC in La Liga on Sunday after a long period of injury.

The 21-year-old Spanish international suffered a serious knee injury in August and will be on the bench at Camp Nou this weekend mnb4.

«I’m happy. It’s good to have him back. You can see his dynamics during training,» Flick told the media.

“I like what I see, but we have to take care of him too.”

Gavi, who also missed most of the 2023/24 season due to a new knee injury, is a tenacious midfielder who can provide intensity in midfield, something that La Liga leaders Barcelona have lacked at times this season.

“As far as I can see he has the right attitude right now, and that’s good,” Flick added.

“I like his intention to play, to give everything for this club and this team, and it is good news that he is back.”

Barcelona have a four-point lead at the top of the table over Real Madrid and face Newcastle United in the UEFA Champions League on Wednesday. Real faces Elche CF on Saturday.

Asked whether teenage star Lamine Yamal will be rested for the match against Sevilla, Flick said: “We’ll see.”
