Atletico Madrid’s Antoine Griezmann came off the bench to guide the team to a 2-1 win over struggling Valencia on Saturday. He helped Diego Simeone’s side break their losing streak in La Liga and stay in touch with the leaders.
Captain Koke opened the scoring in the 17th minute, scoring his first league goal in almost two years, but Lucas Beltran finally equalized for the visitors in the 63rd minute with a stunning strike from the edge of the penalty area.

The quality of Beltran’s goal appeared to temporarily unnerve Atletico, but Griezmann restored order 12 minutes later, expertly controlling a long pass from Marc Pubill before smashing a thunderous half-volley into the top corner from close range.
Atletico remain fourth in the standings with 34 points, one point behind third-place Villarreal and six behind leaders Barcelona. Valencia are 16th with 15 points and one point above the relegation zone.
