The Spanish international Alex Baena has signed for Atletico Madrid for a five -year -old deal, De La Liga Club announced on Wednesday.
The 23-year-old arrives from Villarreal for a non-specific fee, although Spanish media report that the deal could be up to nearly 50 million euros ($ 58.8 million).
«Atletico de Madrid and Villarreal have reached an agreement for the transfer of Alex Baena. The 23-year-old midfielder signed for our club until 30 June 2030,» said the Rojiblancos in a statement.

Baena came through the Youth Academy in Villarreal and made 148 performances for the yellow submarine, scored 26 goals and lay on 40 assists.
He spent the 2021/22 season on loan in Girona, before returning to his parent club and cemented his place as the most important attacking component on the 2021 Europa League champion.
Baena has 10 Spain caps and was part of La Roja’s European Championship-winning team last summer.
