The administrative body of French football has called for a study of hateful comments made online after the exit of the national team from the UEFA Women’s Euro 2025 after a loss of penalty shootout for Germany in the quarterfinals.
«The French football federation strongly condemns the hateful comments about certain players of the French team. Nothing can justify such manifestations of hatred,» said the administrative body in a statement on Wednesday.
«The FFF expresses its full support to all players involved and houses its dedication to the values of respect and solidarity, which form the basis of our sport. The FFF has decided to contact the National Center against online hatred to make the opening of a study aimed at punishing criminal behavior,» the statement added.

The call from the FFF for action comes after the withdrawal of England Jess Carter from social media about racial abuse that she has received online. France goalkeeper Pauline Peyeaud-Magnin placed about the abuse that her teammates received on Instagram.
«There is one thing even harder to accept than defeat: hatred,» she wrote.
«We can be frustrated, we can be sad, we can even be angry. But hatred should never have a place in this sport. Whether it is against a player in our team or an opponent: behind each sweater there is a person … Thanks to those who continue to support us with kindness. We will get up. Stronger. More united.
