Ladies Euro 2025: Germany comes closer to knockouts after victory; Sweden Books Quarter Final berth

The German Sjoeke Nuesken and Lea Schueller struck in the second half to fire the eight-time champion on the outskirts of the Euro 2025 quarterfinals on Tuesday with a 2-1 win over Denmark, leaving the Danes on the edge of an early exit.

With 1-0 on one night in which two important VAR decisions saw it, Germany finally came to the score sheet when it got a penalty in the 56th minute. Nuesken stepped up and quietly hit her penalty in the top left corner.

Schueller placed the Germans in front 10 minutes later after a failed clearance landed by Denmark on the feet of the Bayern Munich, and she wiped it in the far corner.

Germany had celebrated what they thought was the opening goal of Klara Buehl, but angry about the packed T-the-Rafters St Jakob-Park when it was ruled outside the sail.

That seemed to steal the momentum of Germany, and Amalie Vangsgaard hit Denmark in the 26th minute when she took a touch before they unleashed a shot from a tight corner to beat Ann-Katrin Berger.

Germany thought it had previously won a penalty when the referee whistled and pointed to the place because of a handball in Denmark, but Var found that it was outside the framework, which gave rise to more anger of the German fans.

Sweden reaches knockouts with 3-0 win over Poland

Swedish captain Kosovare Asllani scored one goal and scored another when her side rode in the knockout phase of the European Championship of Ladies with a 3-0 win over Tuesday that eliminated the Poles. The victory also guaranteed the berth of Germany in the last eight after they had defeated Denmark earlier on Tuesday, the Danes fell at Poland in leaving the competition.

The Germans and Sweden occupy the top two places in group C on six points and meet each other on Saturday in Zurich to decide who will win the group after the air bombing of Sweden from the wings proved too much for the Polish defense.

Asllani and Madelen Janogy both touched the woodwork with early headers before striker Stina Blackstenius nodded a cross from her captain home in the 28th minute to break the impasse, and the Swedes continued to cross a stream of the box.

Asllani played Senior International in her 201th and did not make a mistake in the 52nd minute when she threw through the middle before she buried the cross of Johanna Rytting Kanyd, and replacement Lina Hurtige added a third goal with another header, this time from a corner, to end the score in the 77th minute.
