Italy lost but also went on to the quarterfinals.
Italy took a 10th minute lead against the World Cup champion 2023 on the shot of defender Elisabetta Oliviero, shortly after Captain Elena Linari hit the bar with a header.
Spain leveled within four minutes, led from the 49th and added the leading fourth goal of Esther González over time.
Yet Spain had enough problems with the defense of the Italians, who had 13 attempts on goal, to give host Switzerland hope in one week at his quarterfinals.
Norway awaits on Wednesday in the first quarterfinals in the first quarter final in Geneva, and it will be Spain-Switzerland in Bern two days later.

Janice Cayman scored in stop time for Belgium to beat Portugal 2-1 and a first victory in his last match at the ladies European Championship on Friday.
Amber Tysiak thought she already scored the winner of Belgium in the stopping time, but that goal was beaten for an offside call, the second Belgian goal excluded after a VAR check.
Portugal needed a victory to achieve the hope to make the knockout phase, but achieved a bad start when Belgium captain gave Tessa Wullaert to meet the cross of Jill Janssens for the third minute opener.
More bad news came from Bern, where Italy took a shock against tournament union Spain. Portugal hoped for a heavy Italian defeat to make his progress to the quarterfinals about goal difference – as long as it also won.
Telma Incarnation was given the only goal of Portugal and could not prevent the elimination of her team.
