Ladies Euro 2025: Welsh Women Carry on Tradition of Oddball Team Photo

The most important tournament debut by Wales Women’s team at Euro 2025 may not be as it hoped, but it wins fans with his unusual team photo, with a tradition that Gareth Bale and the men’s team started in 2016 by Gareth Bale and the men’s team.

Wales was beaten 3-0 by the Netherlands on Saturday, but the Tong-in-Wang photo had football fans talked.

If traditional team Snapshots players have that arm-in-arm in two tight rows, with identical poses usually with their play faces, the Welsh is none of the above.

Lily Woodham stands aside and holds the team flag, and Rhiannon Roberts is squatting in the otherwise all -standing rear row.

Only Josie Green and Hannah Cain are arm-in-arm. There is no sense of formation, random spaces between players and they all wear brutal grin.

«The team photo is indeed a tradition, accidentally,» said a spokesperson for Wales Team Reuters. «Our teams are not the best in organizing themselves for team photos, and it can be seen with our teams for men and women – it is not really forced or overly arranged like a mess.»

Wales reached the semi -final at the European 2016 championship, where it lost to the final winner Portugal. It also went viral on social media for a random pre-match photo, the players of which were on by chance.

A series of positive results followed, so instead of trying to conform, it did the opposite and exaggerated Oddball photo setup.

It has become partly superstition, partly running joke.

«That is a nice tradition, healthy, funny, harmless … I think it’s great,» someone posted on the Reddit football page.

Another pleasure in the result of the team against the Netherlands and wrote: «Great. The gaps are also representative of their defense at the moment.»

Wales, attracted to the most difficult group of Euro 2025, plays France on Wednesday before being confronted with England.
