Morning logistics
I wake up with a beautiful sunny day. I make my little toilet routine, tea, breakfast, coffee and slope.
I have become good in the routine of my bathroom. Except a good place the night before and cavo a hole. So there is no stress in the morning, except when I can’t find the place again, it’s not always easy! The floor is quite dry and rocky with a lot of moss, so a decent plain needs to pass. My toilet kit includes a journey bidet and a Kula cloth. With water everywhere, I prefer that the toilet paper be packed. Too much detail? Not for this website 😉
Errors and stoicism
I am on their way at 10:00, with shorts and t -shirt, with sunscreen and mosquito spray. Mosquitoes are bad in the sections. Unfortunately, my main network was lost somewhere between pack in Denmark and start the path. I delve to get my stoic side and continue with him. What is the alternative?
The mosquitoes have definitely found me.
There are about 13 miles (21 km) to walk along the Amsorsuaq lake. The best thing in Greenland is that it does not need to transport more than one bottle of water, since it can always plan a water stop. Today is no exception. The path still has many wet areas, so it makes no sense to dry the shoes during the night, they will be wet again in minutes.
Proof that the act is not completely empty
After about an hour, I meet Jan, a Danish man with whom he had connected through the Act Facebook group. He gave me the hiking maps of the area and has been very useful with my questions before I left. It is directed in the opposite direction and the path has walked many times. It is finally fun to meet in person in Greenland. We chat on the path. He mentions that he has met many people in recent days, interested, since he is only the second person I have met since he began. We say goodbye. I forgot to gather a photo of us, but it was a good encounter.
Beautiful Amsorsuaq lake
He is warming up, the solo arctic is not a joke! I had considered a hoodie for this trip, but I went with a shirt and SPF 50. I’m glad for ventilation, although I re -apply sunscreen is annoying.
Canoe Center: Hiker Resort Edition
The next cabin is the Canoas center, which I can see from a distance. But before reaching it, I end in the lake, with a purpose. The path literally enters the water if you follow it. The other option is to fight rocks. Since my feet are wet anyway, I interpose, rinse my shoes and cool. It feels great.
When the path ends in the lake.
The Canoas Center is very large, with space for more than 25 people. Most canoes are also stored here. They ask you not to go further until the end of the lake, since it is shallow and could damage the canoes.
The Canoa center. Actually, it has some solar panels and electricity available, but when I was there, it was not working.
Main room of the Canoas Center, there is another big room with more bunk beds.
There is a little beach, so I give myself another dip. The ice water feels incredible on a hot day. There are many places to camp nearby, but it is still early and I want to reach the end of the lake.
Taking advantage of being alone.
The perfect place for camp (again)
A mile later, I see a life jacket that swayed in the lake. I take it out and place it somewhere visible along the way, hoping that someone who goes elsewhere brings him back to the cabin.
When studying the map, I look for flat ground near the end of the lake. A small peninsula seems promising. Indeed, I find a beautiful place surrounded by water, still under the sun.

Golden hour
Jan was the only person I met today, and I enjoy peace and tranquility. I rinsed my clothes, cook the dinner and read my book. My electronic reader is no longer a luxury, he feels essential. I had considered leaving it at home to save weight, but as always, I’m glad I brought it.
There is no real sunset during midnight sun, but the sun goes down on the horizon, giving a whole golden shine. I’m going to bed happy and happy.
Happy and content
