Liam delap Injury Update – Maresca reveals when Can Chelsea has the attacker in Premier League

Chelsea striker Liam Delap may be weeks after a hamstring injury during the 2-0 Premier League victory on Saturday at Fulham, said manager Enzo Maresca.

Delap went down and grabbed his thigh for 13 minutes in the home game and immediately walked into the tunnel after the doctors had looked at it.

Three important Chelsea players have now suffered injuries this month, with attacker Cole Palmer also absent due to a groin injury and central back Levi Colwill excluded during most of the season with a cross ligament.

«Injury does not look good. He was at full speed, hamstring, so that requires weeks,» Maresca said a press conference.

Maresca, who said that Chelsea would look to sign another defender after the injury of Colwill, did not exclude the market for another striker.

«If you have two strikers, it’s enough. If one of them is injured for weeks, it is probably not enough,» he said.

The manager said he could not see if this summer’s World Cup campaign, which won Chelsea, played a role in the injuries.

Maresca, however, was happy to have two competition extraction in a row after he was held to a scoreless draw from Crystal Palace in the opening competition match.

«I am very happy. We have seven points, it is important. I was not happy after the first half because we did not play the ball in the way we prepared. Second half, we were very good on the ball and good with second balls. We dominated the second half,» he added.
