Ligue 1 2025-26: Why is the Marseille-PSG game postponed?


The Ligue 1 match between Marseille and reigning European champions Paris Saint-Germain On Sunday evening was postponed on Sunday due to the Stormenvoorspelling in southern France, the regional authorities said.

«The competition is postponed because there can be heavy rainfall with considerable risks of drainage in urban areas» around Marseille’s 65,000 capacity Stade Velodrome, Georges-Francois Leclerc, the prefect of the Bouches-DU-Rhone department, AFP said.

The authorities did not say when the game is one of the most long-sought in the Ligue 1 calendar, which was planned for Sunday evening, now would be played.

Paris Saint-Germain is currently the first in Ligue 1, with a perfect record of the first four games, while Marseille is in the eighth position with two wins and two defeats from four games.
