Pierre-emerick Aubameyang yielded a brace when the second-year student Olympique bounced back from last season of a shock loss at Stade Rennais to achieve a 5-2 victory over Paris FC in Ligue 1 on Saturday.
Mason Greenwood scored for Marseille from the place in the 18th minute after Aubameyang was knocked down in the box by Otavio. Aubameyang doubled the host’s lead six minutes later when he shot home with his left foot from the corner of Greenwood.
The visitors shot only four minutes back, while Ilan Kebbal found it with an excellent curly shot with the left. Mozes Simon scored the equalizer before the hour when Paris FC seemed to secure their first point in the French top flight in 46 years.
But Lohann Doucet from Paris FC rumbled when he received the ball from keeper Obed Nkambadio, allowing Bilal Nadir to steal the ball and find an unmarked Aubameyang on the edge of the box. The Gabon International made no mistake with a low right foot finish in the 73rd minute.
The pass from Nadir helped Pierre-Emile Hojbjerg to score eight minutes later, and Robinio Vaz hit in extra time and achieved a crucial victory for Marseille for next weekend’s visit to Olympique Lyonnais.
