Ligue 1 News: Dembele can hit new heights this year, says PSG Baas Luis Enrique

Paris Saint-Germain (PSG) Manager Luis Enrique is convinced that attacker Ousmane Dembele can improve his season 2024-25, when he led PSG’s Treble victory and came to the fore as one of the leading balloon d’Orkanshubbers.

The 28-year-old Dembele came from the shadow of the former PSG star Kylian Mbappe last season and turned out to be instrumental in the Champions League-winning run on the side and continued to impress the club World Cup, where PSG finished in second place.

Dembele, who scored 35 goals and scored 16 assists last season, kept PSG alive in last week’s UEFA Super Cup, which set up Goncalo Ramos’ 94th minute equalizer before the new goalkeeper Lucas Chevalier Lof for his rescue in the Penalty Shootout victory on Tottenham Nice.

«I think this season is a big challenge for Ousmane. Last year was incredible, but I was convinced that he can undoubtedly improve his performance,» Luis Enrique told Angers prior to Friday’s home game.

«You have to be very brave to say that (about Dembele), but I think he has the level. He is a really important player for us. He has quality in attack and also in defense. I can see how happy he is; I hope that this year will be even better.»

Friday’s game will be PSG’s first in the Parc des Princes in three months and mark home debut for Chevalier and defender Illia Zabarnyi.

The club also presents its five trophies (Ligue 1, French Cup, Champions League, French Super Cup and UEFA Super Cup) for the home crowd.

«It is very important for us to see our fans again and return to the Parc des Princes after 10 ex -competitions. We really missed the stadium and the fans. We know that the atmosphere always makes a difference,» said Luis Enrique.
