Mumbai Police has made strict security arrangements, including restrictions on carrying water bottles, metal objects and coins inside the venues, while watchtowers have also been set up to keep an eye on the crowds.
Expecting large crowds at the stadiums during Messi’s visit, city police deployed more than 2,000 troops in and around both venues.
“Considering the chaos prevailing in Calcutta and the security breach, we have implemented World Cup-level security arrangements at the Brabourne and Wankhede stadiums,” a police official said.
