Liverpool -Manager Arne Slot confirmed an agreement with Parma on Thursday to sign teen defender Giovanni Leoni.
Slot, however, refused to discuss a potential deal for another center – England International Marc Guehi – and said that all comments from his club, Crystal Palace, should come.
The 18-year-old Leoni previously played for Padova and Sampdoria before he impressed Parma after participating in the low season of 2024. He is an Italy under 19 International.
«The clubs have agreed (up) a deal, but he has not signed for us yet,» said Slot about Leoni, «so the moment he draws for us, I can go more in detail.»
Over a possible deal for Guehi, who is left for another year on his contract in Palace, Slot was more careful. He did not mention the name of the player specifically, but said: «Unfortunately, he was the leader of the team we lost last Sunday» – Referring to Liverpool who lost to Palace in the Community Shield on Sunday.
«If you want to have conversations about him, you have to go to Palace and (Manager Oliver) Glasner and ask his opinion about it,» Slot said at a news conference prior to the first match of Liverpool’s Premier League defense, at home at Bournemouth on Friday.
