At the age of 39, Luka Modric will try to help to restore seven-time European champion AC Milan to glory after one of the most disappointing Rossoneri seasons in recent memory
The Ballon d’Or winner of 2018 landed on Monday in Italy for a medical with Milan after he said goodbye to Real Madrid after 13 very successful seasons in Spain. He was expected to be a one -year contract later, with an option for a second season.
Modric grew up to support Milan because his idol and colleague Croatian, Zvonimir Boban, played for the club in the 1990s.
Modric announced in May that he left Madrid after he had helped the Spanish powerhouse to 28 titles: six European cups, six club world cups, five European super cups, four Spanish competitions, two Copas del Rey and five Spanish super cups.
Milan finished in Serie A last season and missed a place in Europe.
The Italian club has again hired Massimiliano Allegri as a coach after the season, to replace the dismissed Sergio Concukicao.

Allegri won the Italian competition for the first time with Milan in 2011 and then led Juventus to five straight titles from 2015 to 2019.
Allegri reportedly called the former coach of Madrid and Milan Carlo Ancelotti to ask about the form of Modric. Then the new sports director of Milan Igli Tare traveled to the Croatia training camp last month to close the deal with Modric.
The deal was closed before the club World Cup, but Modric could not become a member of his new club until he finished playing for Madrid during the tournament in the United States.
Madrid was beaten 4-0 by Paris Saint-Germain in the semi-final in the last match of Modric with the club.
