Mahosuc tired – the walk

Day 110-12 Miles Today from Grafton Notch / Bethel to Surplus Pond Stealth Site, 4500 feet up, 3900 feet down, 1943 in Mile Marker

Erased

I had a quiet morning at the hotel recovering from recent days. I walked 33 miles and climbed 11,000 feet and also descended 11,000 feet in 2 days. And that included going through Mahosuc Notch, which is known for its difficulty.

Today I had a late beginning around 10:30. Knockerz advances to establish where he will wait for the forest to leave a few days. The weather today is warmer.

Calvo mountain

My first climb is about 2500 feet to the Calión mountain in 3 miles. The Grafton Notch path was a stable climb, but the last section was a thousand feet in one mile.

It was an steep climb, but there were many support points. There was a couple of rock faces that I had to walk.

In the upper part there was an alpine area with a view towards the valleys and mountains without developing in the distance. In a straight line I could see the East Baldplate mountain. I was just one mile away, but it seemed much further. It was an impressive rock face.

East Baldplate Rockface

Uploading that rock face was really intimidating. I was completely open and if you made a bad movement climbing, you would fall for hundreds of feet.

It also seemed that I was going to assault, but I looked at the weather forecast and there is no prognosis for rain. However, there was a smoke call, so I guess what I am seeing is smoke. At the upper part of East Baldo Pllatate, I suddenly had an explosion of energy and began to accelerate my rhythm.

Then I slowed when I left East Baldplate Mountain. This was a very steep fall with some technical parts.

Magic of the path

After the long technical climb along the path he became covered but not too technical. I went to Frye Leanto, where some hikers had told me that they had left some cold beers.

I stop briefly to eat, drink some water and grab a beer to go. They also had a cold -death rooter water that I enjoyed with my food.

Soft trail

It was around 3:00 and I still needed to walk about 6 more miles from the destination he had chosen for tonight. The first section of the path from the leanture was an steep climb to just below the summit of the surplus mountain.

On the summit, the path descended for several miles through some really beautiful forests. They looked like forests that I have not seen in a long time. Like some of the southern forests with different types of trees, of course. The path was mostly without obstructions and had a beautiful soft leaf sand cover.

Dunn Falls

The path continued to descend to Dunn Falls. Dunn Falls was in a narrow slot cannon that fell dramatically in a narrow gorge underneath.

The path climbed along the wall of the cliff of this gorge. I could listen to the hurried water under me while climbing this steep cliff face. The path arose on a road where construction was carried out at the crossroads. I restarted the forest on a climb to the surplus where I put my store on the edge of the ponds to spend the night.
