Lionel Messi had a goal and an assist when Inter Miami Seattle defeated 3-1 on Tuesday evening, just over two weeks after losing the sounders in the final of the League Cup.
The Sounders defeated Inter Miami 3-0 in the Leagues Cup on August 31, but Messi assisted a wide open Jordi Alba with an outside-the-foot pass in the 12th minute to give the herons early command.
Messi almost doubled the score in the 28th minute when he received a ball over the top and tried to re -execute with the help of the outside of his left foot, but the shot touched.
Alba returned the favor in the 41st minute and helped an arrow of Messi who just got enough of a touch to bring the score to 2-0. Ian Fray went home Rodrigo de Paul’s Hoek in the opening minutes of the second half to extend the lead of the Herons to 3-0.

Obed Vargas found the back of the network of Seattle in the 69th minute, while the Mexican International scored on the Independence Day of his country.
Inter Miami was again without Luis Suárez who served the second game of his three-match MLS ban for spitting on a member of the coaching staff of the Sounders in the final of the Leagues Cup.
