Manchester City’s latest signing Antoine Semenyo received plaudits from teammates and support staff after the 26-year-old scored on his debut in Saturday’s 10-1 FA Cup win over Exeter City, matching the team’s biggest win in the competition.
Ghanaian winger Semenyo, who has scored 10 league goals and three assists this season, joined City earlier this week after competition from other Premier League rivals.
“Antoine is finishing well,” assistant manager Pep Lijnders, who took charge while Pep Guardiola was serving a one-match touchline ban, told reporters.
“He is a humble man and we have been following him for a long time, but he brings something to the front line: what we really want and what we need.
«He can attack quickly, he wants to chase, he’s a guy who doesn’t stop. I think you can see today that he can adapt to our style quite quickly.»

Semenyo played a weighted pass to defender Rico Lewis for City’s fifth in the 49th minute, and five minutes later he got on the scoresheet with a shot from inside the penalty area.
«Everyone wanted him (Semenyo), there’s a reason for that and he showed that today,» Lewis told the club’s official website.
“It feels like a seamless transition to the team.
“He is also a very good person, which is also positive.”
Manchester City next take on Newcastle United in the first leg of the League Cup semi-final on Tuesday, before Saturday’s Premier League derby against Manchester United.
