Manchester City took a two-goal lead to draw 2-2 with Tottenham Hotspur on Sunday, with Dominic Solanke’s double for the hosts after half-time giving north London rivals Arsenal a huge Premier League title boost.
Tottenham were completely outplayed in the first half, but everything changed after the break when Solanke gave his side a deserved point with an acrobatic moment of magic.
First-half goals from Rayan Cherki and Antoine Semenyo put City on course to a win that would cut Arsenal’s lead to four points, and a listless Tottenham left the field to buoy at the break.
But Solanke slotted home from close range in the 53rd minute to revive the home’s hopes, and his second in the 70th minute will be replayed over and over again as he dived forward to meet Conor Gallagher’s cross and conjured a quick finish with his backheel looping over City keeper Gianluigi Donnarumma.
City’s fourth second-place draw in six league games left them on 47 points from 24 matches, six points behind Arsenal, who beat Leeds United 4-0 on Saturday.
Tottenham is 14th with 29 points
