Man United Stars ‘Stand Achter’ Manager Amorim says De Ligt

Matthijs de Ligt insists that the players of Manchester United are the besieged boss Ruben Amorim ‘and deserves the blame for the disastrous start of the club of the season.

Amorim’s side needed a final fine from Bruno Fernandes to beat Burnley 3-2 on Saturday after having blown the lead in Old Trafford twice.

United’s first Premier League victory in three games This period only came a few days after a humiliating League Cup second round loss at the fourth Tier Grimsby.

Amorim had admitted after the astonishing cup reports that he sometimes thinks about stopping United and often hates his players.

With speculation that is still swirling about the future of Amorim, despite the much -needed victory over Burnley, United Defender de Ligt supported his boss.

«I think the only thing that was counted was a victory,» he said. «Everyone saw how. We know that we could have done that better, but the victory was the most important thing.»

Asked if he wanted Amorim to stay, De Ligt added: “Yes, of course. I mean, as a player you are responsible for the results.

«Of course they always talk about the manager, but I think that as players we also looked at each other after Grimsby and said to each other:» Boys, this week’s performance is not acceptable «.

“It will be real, I think, bad to say that it is the manager’s fault or … it is especially us, and we know that.

«So yes, of course we are still behind him and he is behind us, so we will continue like this. I think the result for today makes that feeling even more.»

De Ligt wore a black eye of Wednesday with Grimsby, which ended in a loss of penalty shoot-out after United recovers from two goals in normal time.

The Dutch defender said that the embarrassing result was not extensively discussed among the team because it was too painful.

«I don’t think much has been said because everyone knows how the feeling was,» he said.

“I think everyone from outside can also understand what the feeling is if you lose such a game.

«So yes, it’s not easy. We know that.

United hardly looked like a coherent unity against Burnley, with carelessly defending and bad keeper, twice that the visitor can draw level.

But the newest heroic deeds from Fernandes in a united shirt kept the critics on their way to the international break.

Amorim will be confronted with an important test of his job security when Premier League promotion will resume united in rival Manchester City on 14 September before it organizes in-form Chelsea six days later.
