Managerless Tottenham fly across the world for a friendly in New Zealand

Managerless Tottenham said on Monday it will travel 24 hours around the world for a friendly in New Zealand in July – by which time it could be in the second tier of the Championship.

Tottenham are locked in a Premier League relegation battle and are looking for their third manager of the season after parting ways with Igor Tudor after just seven games on Sunday.

The team from London is one point above the bottom three relegation places with seven games to go.

To kick off the pre-season tour, the club will face Auckland FC at Eden Park on July 26, the club said.

It is Tottenham’s second trip to New Zealand, having been there in 1976.

“Whatever happens with Tottenham this season, they remain an incredibly high-profile team with a global fan base, and we are delighted to have them here with us in Auckland,” said Auckland FC CEO Nick Becker.

Tottenham previously announced that it will play Sydney FC and London rivals Chelsea in Australia on July 29 and August 1 respectively Ae8DKx.

Former Brighton and Marseille coach Roberto de Zerbi has been linked with the vacant management position, while reports suggest the club could turn to Sean Dyche to resolve the issues.
