Manchester United signs Mbeumo by Brentford

Manchester United signed Bryan Mbeumo from Brentford until 2030, with the option to extend another year, the club said Monday.

United paid 65 million pounds ($ 88 million) to Brentford, with another six million possible in add-ons, for the 25-year-old Cameroon International, according to a club source.

Mbeumo hit new heights in the competition season of 2024-2010 and ended with 20 goals to help Brentford to a solid 10th place. Only Mohamed Salah (29), Alexander Isak (23) and Erling Haaland (22) scored more.

«As soon as I knew there was a chance to become a member of Manchester United, I had to take the opportunity to draw for the club of my dreams, the team whose shirt I was wearing grow up,» he said.

«My mentality is to always be better than I yesterday. I know that I have the spirit of character to reach a different level here, learn from (manager) Ruben Amorim and play together with players of World Class.»

The versatile Mbeumo flourished on the right wing and was also impressed as a center, which is indispensable for Brentford by starting every league match last season.

He joined the London Club of Ligue 2 Side Troyes in 2019 and scored 242 performances, scored 70 goals and offered 51 assists.

«The goals and assists of Bryan in the Premier League are exceptional, his remarkable consistency has put him among the most productive players in England in the last three seasons,» said the director of the United, Jason Wilcox.

«We are pleased to have protected one of our primary goals prior to the tour for the season. The experience in the US will be the perfect opportunity for Bryan to work with Ruben and his new teammates while we are preparing for an exciting season.»

United plays three preseason matches in the US, on July 26 against West Ham United in New Jersey, July 30 against Bournemouth in Chicago and 3 August against Everton in Atlanta.
