Marmots call reinforcements!

Marmots are winning!

‘It was the night before the most challenging walk of my life. Uploading 2000 feet to the Argentine pass and then sailing in some way the incomplete traver between Mt Edwards (13817) and Grays Peak (14254), also the highest point of the path. The camp was configured and had obtained extra water to be ready in the morning.

The first wave

I was involved and ready to sleep. 4 am would come too soon. And then! First several deer arrived galloped by my camp sending reverberations through my store! After he calmed down, I was starting to fall asleep when something stumbled upon the boy’s lines for my store. Uh oh! It was only the deer friving or it was …

The marmotes

I applauded, I hit my kitchen pot, I shouted … the noises disappeared, but not for a long time! So I left and checked everything. He made sure everything was under my store’s lobby. Fun. My water bag was no longer full of water. I should not have tightened the lid enough. OK. Sleeping time I wake up with more noise and a strange flop sound. Once again, I go out to see an innocent -looking bunny (is it just a marmota lure?) Mastiand Flores. And my water bag (CNOC) that is located on Earth ten feet from the store. Empty .

Tomorrow: Marmots 1, MB 0

Fast slope because now I also have to get water! I get to the current and fill me … but there is a stream of water that comes out of my bag. Those tortuous creatures had cut my bag. Now I could not transport extra water for this long day, just adding to the challenge.

One

Getting to Mount Edward was not the problem. Making the crazy crazy with vertical drop on one side and the scree/astragalus in motion on the other side and without a real trace to continue … That was the problem. When I sailed next to Grays Peak (I learned to curse on this route) I was so tired and so under water that I almost decided to forget the peak. Then, a kind gentleman shared some water and caressed his dog for a while (always something good!) And so I continued. Humans are quite good beings mostly! I arrived at the top and spoke with some Indian gentlemen who captured this tired but happy face!

The highest point in the CDT

Down

Dang! The hordes of people who climbed to the grays on the other side! A true path! Water! Suggestions! Friends! Wow! Wild flowers were also delicious on the way back! Stay in the field areas of the path made more sense, so I began to establish the camp when my eyes appeared asking … but another CDT hiker called winner! We had fun spending and eating and chatting. I even fixed my CNOC bag in marmot slices! MB and winner 1, Marmots 0!

Wild flowers !!

Can you see the elephant trunks?

Wild flowers are still blooming and making me happy. Autumn is sneaky in the mountains, with some colors that are already changing. Good humans are everywhere, such as those who told me to look at this rainbow in the cloud.
