Manchester City Vooruit Omar Marmoush suffered a knee ligament injury on Tuesday during the 0-0-look game of Egypt with Burkina Faso in their world cup qualification on Tuesday.
Egypt came one step closer to qualifying next year’s tournament, with a five -point lead over the second Burkina Faso placed in group A with two more rounds.
However, the evening took a worrying turn for the Pharaohs when Marmoush was forced nine minutes from the field after a heavy challenge.
The team doctor of Egypt, Mohamed Abu El-Ela, confirmed that the injury was «a bruised knee ligament».
«The player will undergo an X-ray on Wednesday morning upon his arrival in Cairo,» said the Egyptian football club on her official X account, referring to the doctor.
