Lionel Messi became the all-time leader in international assists on Wednesday after scoring two goals in Argentina’s 6-0 defeat by Puerto Rico in an international friendly.
His pair of assists took his total to 60, putting him one ahead of Brazilian Neymar Jr., who is second on the list.
Playing at Inter Miami’s home ground, Chase Stadium, Messi orchestrated proceedings with characteristic ease, providing assists for Gonzalo Montiel and Lautaro Martínez as Argentina cruised past their opponent. Martínez scored a brace, while Alexis Mac Allister also scored twice in the emphatic win.
