Tomas Martinez scored a late equalizer for Barcelona Sporting Club as they held Inter Miami to a 2-2 draw in their friendly at the Estadio Monumental Banco Pichincha in Ecuador on Saturday.
Lionel Messi opened the scoring for the Herons in the 31st minute, but Joao Rojas restored parity for the Ecuadorian side within 10 minutes. However, Miami took advantage of a late opening to take the lead again in stoppage time of the first half.
Barcelona introduced Martinez in the second half and eventually got a goal back when he combined with Miguel Parrales to square it all three minutes from time.
Inter Miami finished pre-season with just one win in three matches, beating Atletico Nacional 2–1 in the previous match and losing 0–3 to Alianza Lima in the match before.
Miami, the Major League Soccer Cup champions, opens its regular season against Los Angeles FC on Feb. 21 at the Los Angeles Memorial Coliseum.
