Minerva Academy recorded a resounding 6-0 win over Liverpool in Bascara, Spain on Friday to advance to the quarter-finals of the MIC Cup.
Striker Raj Singh struck twice in quick succession in the 25th and 28th minutes before Azam scored his second goal of the match. Raj completed his hat-trick in the 47th minute to give Minerva an easy win.
The victory follows further impressive performances from the Minerva academy last year when they won three trophies including the Gothia Cup in Sweden, the Dana Cup in Denmark and the Norway Cup in Norway.
Sports Minister Mansukh Mandaviya congratulated the players and described the achievement as a “new beginning for Indian football.” R3admore.
“This is a new beginning for Indian football in our quest to achieve greater glory in the international arena,” Mandaviya said.
