Major League Soccer will play a campaign from February to May in 2027 as it transitions to a seasonal schedule that aligns with most soccer leagues worldwide, organizers announced Thursday.
During the “MLS Sprint Season,” all 30 teams will play 14 regular season games, once home or away, against each of their conference rivals from February to April.
The top eight teams in both the Eastern and Western conferences will reach the MLS Cup playoffs, with some elimination games until the MLS Cup final in May.

The campaign sets the qualifiers for the 2028 CONCACAF Champions Cup and the 2028 Leagues Cup against Mexican Liga MX clubs.
That will set the stage for the 2027-2028 season to kick off in July 2027, ending with the 2028 MLS Cup in May 2028.
The MLS will have a midwinter break in the 2027-2028 season from mid-December to early February, with no league matches scheduled in January.
The current season from February to December 2026 concludes with the MLS Cup final on December 18.
