Mohun Bagan approaches Cas about travel to Iran for AFC Champions League 2, unlikely that it will travel for Sepahan collision

Indian Super League (ISL) champion Mohun Bagan Super Giant will approach De Court of Arbitration for Sports (CAS) for a resolution with regard to his trip to Iran for the AFC Champions League Two (ACL 2) matches, the club said on Saturday.

«Mohun Bagan Super Giant gives priority to the safety and well -being of his players, civil servants and support staff. Our players and their families have expressed concern about traveling to Iran. The club, after the necessary consideration, is thoughtfully at their request for safety,» the club said in a statement.

«After careful consideration of the government advice and the potential uncovered risks involved, and maintaining the feelings of the players, the club has approached De Court of Arbitration for Sport (CAS) to find a fair resolution and to protect its interests.»

Bagan was planned to play the Iranian top division side Sepahan SC, in the ACL 2 group stage on 30 September. With the constant safety problems at the club, it will probably not travel to Iran for the game.

The Mariners, who after winning the ISL a direct place in the ACL 2 secured people, opened his continental campaign with a 0-1 loss for Ahal FK from Turkmenistan in the Salt Lake Stadium in Kolkata on September 16.

They are now confronted with two back-to-back-sex matches against Sepahan on September 30 and Jordan’s Al Hussain on October 21.

Not popping up can lead to serious sanctions and endanger the future participation of Indian clubs in ACL 2. Last season Mumbai City FC was forced to play in Tehran without important foreigners.
