More unexpected problems: the walk

Day 79-16 Miles today Iron from the Masters Mansion hostel to the Alec Kennedy shelter, 2,500 feet and 2,500 feet down- 1,196 to Miles

Finally a cooling

After eating my hamburger and french fries in the Pine Grove store, I went to the Iron Masters Mansion hostel. It was a good shelter. It was nice to make a shower after several days of sweating profusely and not showering more than splashing some water in a water source. I had a mediocre air conditioner that was nice to get out of extreme heat.

When I finished drying my things and showering, it was time for me to lie down and go to sleep. I slept quite well.

I had an early start this morning at 7:00 am, it is supposed to be a much more great day today. Until now he is foggy and fresh and after unbearable heat days, I was almost cold as I wondered through the park in the AT.

Not yet rocksylvania

The path is encouraged through the State Park and then in Fuller Lake. Fuller Lake was once a 90 -foot deep iron mineral mine. After the lake, the path continued along a babbling stream through a beautiful pine forest in a good railway rating very easy.

The path had some climbs, but it was quite without incident. There were some rock revolts and there were many sections with some really pointed rocks. But mostly you could avoid the rocks passing around. Although Pennsylvania has been rocky in the sections, I have not reached Rocksylvania, which supposedly begins in Mile 1.190.

Delicassss

While I walked, I met several other hikers who were traveling at my own pace. It was nice to walk with others for a short period of time after so many miles of solitude. It was here that I met Heisenberg.

We walked towards Green Mountain Deli, where the comments on the owner were a bit growers were true. I think it was just a matter of being in the northeast after several months of being in the southeast. Heisenberg, who is from Tennessee, said his mother always told him that the people of the Northeast grew differently. I think that summarizes perfectly.

The Deli owner was a bit annoying when he left and 10 of us were sitting on his front porch covered eating. Our packages and equipment dispersed nearby. He said he had a delivery and needed the space. He was wet and raining the porch, so we told him we would not be on the road when his delivery came.

More unexpected problems: the walk

Some hikers ended and left while others dispersed from the porch. I ended up being alone on the porch enjoying my Italian Ginger and Ginger. The owner of the Deli did not bothered me anymore. I stayed out of the way eating my sandwich. It was pleasant for Deli Blaze (having restaurants, shops and delicatessen to eat instead of my path food).

Train or non -train?

Before knowing it, we had walked 12 miles and it was only 1:00 pm we found a group of other hikers who stopped in the next refuge. That shelter was my original goal with one day of 18 miles, but I definitely feel that I could have walked more today. The problem was that there is no place to camp north of this refuge. We were about to pass through the Cumberland Valley, a narrow corridor without camp options.

The only option was the ATC backpack camp that everyone says it is a nightmare because the trains arrive.

As I didn’t have many miles to go, I decided to take my time during the last four miles, which was a good thing because the path increased. In the upper part was Rocky Ridge, which had some really interesting rock characteristics for which you uploaded. It seems that the views would be spectacular on the way to Rocky Ridge, but unfortunately the clouds had been established and I could see very far.

I arrived at a camp before the Allec Kennedy shelter. When I went to configure my store, the post broke. So I can’t load until you get replacement posts. I have to stay in shelters or shelters until my posts will replace. I moved to the shelter to spend the night.
