Saint Yvon To Carrieres Shelter
Continuing with the routine we had developed in recent days, I had breakfast at the hotel and finished packing before Dad left me to start walking. The moment of this worked to give me a start of 7:00 am yesterday I had left me yesterday in my alternative of the coastal road walk and I had a mile more or less before joining the IAT. When I did, it was at the beginning of another walk on the beach, which was excited. Did not disappoint …

I was struggling to take a selfie while holding my trekking, coffee and telephone posts.

Let the beach begin!
Sometimes it was close to the water that approached between algae and tide pools. Other times I was at the top of the shore, where I was completely dry and full of loose plates stones. Like yesterday, I knelt and looked close and also sometimes stopped to contemplate or lower my coast in both directions. It was a wonderful beginning for the day …
Everything that culminated in reaching a naturally protected port where the water of Le Grand Etang Drena towards St. Lawrence. There were about 5 or 6 seals hanging and many birds. Water that flows naturally in a bigger body of water is one of my favorite things in this world.
They were just after 9:00 am at this time. Then, I had a walk on the road along the 132 highway. At first it was just along the great lake, but then curved in the hills. I was still following the IAT, but after a few miles, the route was cut even more in the forest. Continuing with my attitude yesterday, I chose to stay along the way.
To be honest, it wasn’t great. Although it is not bad either. I listened to music all the time. Throughout this trip, I have been adding songs to a playlist, I titled «Ect Roaming.» I have almost 24 hours of music at this time. Occasionally, I listened to it, but in this last week, my favorite and taken in a new meaning is somewhat involuntarily.
Near the end of the trip, retrospectively, certain songs have brought me back to specific parts of the path. For example, I had a bit of Jimmy Buffett today and brought me back to the keys 😊. And later, the Osborne brothers, «Rocky Top», which Luke and I played when they were on the top of Rocky Top, they reminded me of the smakies.
So, yes, I know that not everyone gets this path walking or understands why I would choose to stay when there is an available path. I am sure there are those who judge me hard for «jump» parts of the path. However, you know, I have done a good job on this walk not to let others think it should matter. As the Canadians say: «Walk your own walk, huh.»
It really ended up being only a few stretching miles today that I ignored, then the rest of the day I followed the IAT. It was very steep leaving the road. I have often said in my descriptions something in the sense of «directly» the hill or the mountain. This time it was true. There were no curves at all. Even in Faraout it seemed a line to the coast, at least to start.
The steep path softened and took me to a gravel road and then to a wonderful lighthouse called Pointe-à-la-Reommée. I would say that a dozen vehicles slowly passed in this short road and each was a stealthy electronic engine.
According to Farout, «Pointe-à-La-Renommé is a historical site of the first Maritime Radio Station in North America, installed by Marconi in 1904». It was quite windy in the cliff and I was glad to discover that the visitors center had coffee! I had a good break for lunch sitting in one of these wooden adirondack chairs over water and lighthouse views.
When I bought my beautiful lady coffee, we talked briefly through our broken differences in French English/language. She asked where she came from and when I started. When I told him, he announced it to the multitude of people outside. I felt a little uncomfortable because maybe there were twenty people reacting to this strange news and I had no idea what they said and, therefore, they really do not interact with them.
Continuing, it was pleasant, although steep path to get to the Zephyr shelter.
Then, unexpectedly, more walk on the beach! It was pleasant, but I will say that the loose stones were exhausting.
Upon leaving the beach and the port, I had two steep diapers, then things calmed down mostly, except for some short bursts of that same super steep style.
I arrived at the shelter just after 6:00 pm and there was no one at home. It was very nice with a sliding door and even an screen. I felt comfortable immediately.
A note of the Author
The outdoor has always been an important part of my life. Even when I was very young, I was playing in forests and fields, walking through ponds full of frogs and slipping and sliding in muddy stream banks. I had access to the natural space just in my backyard and grew up in a family that loved to spend time and recreate outside. They taught me all kinds of things about the nature of my parents, whom their parents had taught them. I have so much gratitude for this education, but I see more and more how privileged it was to have this.
Not everyone presents to the positive aspects of natural spaces at an early age. Not everyone has a story in which the outdoors felt safe. And for those who want to try it, it may be expensive to get all the necessary equipment to do it safely. There are systems and barriers that prevent groups of people from accessing all these wonders that I grew up knowing.
The outdoor is for everyone! That’s why I’m supporting Outdoor empowered network (OEN) In your mission of increasing outdoor access! My goal is to raise $ 2 for your efforts for every mile you walk or kayak on this trip. The moment I write this, everyone has raised $ 7,076, which is really surprising. I am very close to the end of my walk and the final number I hope to reach is $ 9,393. I think we can still achieve this goal!
So, I am making a final impulse, asking those who wish to help all children get access to the outdoors, to help support OEN. Consider attributing what I can. Everything makes a difference. The «Council author» button is a direct link to my fund collection page. You are really incredible. Thank you.
OEN is connecting people, especially young people, outdoors through the planting and support of gear libraries, offering training in outdoor and security skills, and being intentional about inclusion. What I love about OEN is that it is a network throughout the country, but in a very local way and directed by the community. This hits me home.
In collaboration with others, OEN began Gear’s library in my hometown of Grand Rapid, Michigan. Today, Gr Outsis is one of the numerous members in the OEN network. I was able to visit your team library shortly before taking off this Ect trip and I was surprised by the incredible ways in which they support my community. In addition to providing team needs to people, they are associating with other groups to focus on organized outdoor recreational experiences focused on young people! He is really inspiring and that is why I hope you only to support his efforts.
