Nagelsmann calls for patience with Florian Wirtz while he wants to settle in Liverpool

Germany coach Julian Nagelsmann supported the new Liverpool-Rekruut Florian Wirtz on Monday to return to his best form after a restrained start of his Premier League career.

Wirtz came to Liverpool from Bayer Leverkusen in the summer for 125 million euros plus bonuses, but did not notice despite the Reds who won his first three games.

In conversation with reporters in Bratislava before the world cup qualification of Germany against Slovakia on Thursday, Nagelsmann called the 22-year-old midfielder «A Key Player for US».

The coach said that Wirtz «had not been incredibly dominant» and added that he needed time to adapt to Liverpool.

“You have to look at the whole gang that plays around him. They have spent a few euros in the top team they have there and you don’t always stand out as an individual.

“It is rather the general construct that should work – and it works.

“It is normal that you need a little more time in a new culture, a new competition, in a new stadium in a new club.

«He will play some great games there. He will score, he will help. He can start with us tomorrow,» he added.

Together with Wirtz, the Premier League attracted several Bundesliga stars in the summer, with four of the top five most expensive transfers from Germany.

Germany -captain Joshua Kimmich, one of the best earners of Bayern Munich, said that players were «torn».

“To be honest, we can’t really understand it either, and we can’t influence it. But it’s the market.

“There are financial resources (in England), both by ownership and TV money.

«Apparently they can pull the money out of their sleeves very, very easily.»
