Napoli’s injuries are piling up ahead of a crucial week for the defending Serie A champions, both at home and in Europe.
Winger Matteo Politano and defender Amir Rrahmani are the latest players to be sidelined after both suffered injuries during Saturday’s 1-0 win over Sassuolo.
“Politano has suffered a strain of the semimembranosus muscle in his right thigh,” Napoli said in a short statement on Monday. “Rrahmani has suffered a strain in his left gluteal muscle.
“Both players have already started their rehabilitation programs.”
Napoli has not indicated when the players are expected back, but they have almost certainly been ruled out of Tuesday’s Champions League match in Copenhagen and Sunday’s Serie A match against Juventus.

Napoli are just one point above the elimination zone in the Champions League, having lost half of their six games.
Antonio Conte’s side are third in Serie A but six points behind leaders Inter Milan after drawing three of their past four matches.
The latest injuries add to a long list of absentees, as Conte has been without Romelu Lukaku, Kevin De Bruyne, Frank Anguissa, Billy Gilmour and Alex Meret for several months.
