Romelu Lukaku from Napoli has sustained a serious dijing injury that may require surgery, the Serie A -side that was announced on Monday, because the media reported that the Belgian attacker could be put aside for weeks.
Former Chelsea, Manchester United and Inter Milan player Lukaku came up the injury on Thursday during a 2-1 victory over Olympiakos Piraeus in a friendly one.
Tests revealed that the 32-year-old, who scored 14 goals as Napoli won Series A last season, «has a high-quality injury to the Rectus Femoris muscle in his left thigh,» the club said.
Lukaku «has already started rehabilitation and will also undergo surgical consultation,» Napoli added to the statement.
Napoli starts his title defense in Sassuolo on Saturday.
